Pauline Louise Doty, 71, of Sedan, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at her home in rural Sedan.
She was born on August 8, 1939 in Wauneta, Kansas to Alfred and Viola (Stephens) McNown. She attended school at Prairie Center and Belknap before graduating from Sedan High School in Sedan. She attended Independence Community College and also went to business school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
On December 23, 1957 she married John Doty at the Belknap Church in Belknap, Kansas. They made their home in Chautauqua County and she worked as a secretary and retired as Assistant Vice President of the First National Bank in Sedan for more than twenty years. She then worked at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma until her retirement in 2002.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sedan. She served as church treasurer for many years. She was a past 4-H leader and helped with the Fun Fish clinic, was a past member of Business of Professional Women, she also was a past leader of the Explorer Scouts. She loved bowling, fishing, hunting, and was an avid wildlife guide.
She is survived by her husband, John Doty of the home; two daughters, Doris Brown of Beulah, Wyoming and Mary Jane and husband Mike Ullum of Sedan, Kansas; two sisters, Jeannie and husband Allen Crawford of Belknap, Kansas and Joan Beckenholdt of Sedan, Kansas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan with Reverend Jerry Bever officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Belknap Community or the Fun Fish Clinic or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and remembrances may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
