Coffeyville - David D. White, 65, of rural South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 27, 1948 at Independence, KS to Mary Elizabeth (Hanlin) White and William Orville "Chubb" White. David grew up and attended school in Independence. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army from April 1969 until receiving his honorable discharge in January 1971. He received the following medals while serving his country National Defense Service Medal Vietnam service Vietnam campaign medal Combat infantryman's badge Bronze Star medal and Air medal. He married Emma J. McFall. They had two children, Michael D. White and Lisa Kay White. Emma preceded him in death in 1975. On March 21, 1976 he married Pamela K. Long at Coffeyville. They had one daughter Brandie. David lived in the South Coffeyville, OK area for many years, where he bought and sold horses, and tack. He attended the 1st Baptist Church, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren; loved his horses and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Pamela of the home; two daughters, Lisa Kay White of South Coffeyville, OK, and Brandie Woody and husband Zach of South Coffeyville, OK; daughter-in-law, Becki White of Coffeyville; four brothers, Bob White of Neodesha, Donald White and wife Mary of Independence, Ramon White and wife Gloria of Tyro, and Damon White and wife Terri, of Fredonia; two sisters, Mary June Null and Beverly Hight both of Independence; and five grandchildren, Bradley White, and Emmalee White of Coffeyville, and Brody Woody, Gavin Woody, and Kord Woody of South Coffeyville, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Emma, and one son, Michael D. "Mike" White in 2008. A Memorial Service celebrating David's life will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Pastor Jimmy Harrington officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Mike White Memorial Fund, or Disabled American Veterans; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
