Coffeyville -
James (Jim) Paul Lewis joined his maker May 24, 2010 at Asbury Village of Coffeyville, KS, after a long battle with lukemeia. Jim was born to Glen & Lorene (Pitzer) Lewis November 2, 1943. He is survived by two sisters: Phyllis & John Beeson, Judith & Don Ford of Wann, OK and two brothers: Donald & Villa Lewis of Neosdesha, KS, Gerald & Yvonne Lewis of Gilbert AZ, Five Nieces and Three Nephews.
Jim grew up on a farm southwest of Coffeyville where he was member of the Bob-White 4-H Club. Jim participated in gardening, hogs, and Herford cattle raising. He was also a member of the Square Dancing competition of the 4-H club. He participated in demonstrations and fairs of the organization.
He attended James Grade School, graduated in 1961 from Field Kindley High School and attended classes at McFarland Trade School receiving a certificate in small engine repairs which he used to repair lawn mowers in his own lawn mowing business.
Jim married Rosalie Twitchell late 1960's. Later divorced.
Jim's hobby was putting puzzles together, glueing them, and framing them for friends and families examples of his work can be seen at Asbury Village and First Methodist Church.
Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville.
He was preceeded in death by his parents: Glen and Lorene Lewis, and his ex-wife Rosalie.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 in the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville with Rev. John Collins officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
