Coffeyville - Helen Pfister, 89, a longtime Coffeyville resident passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Parsons. She was born March 10, 1921 at Kansas City, Missouri to Thomas P and Emily (Bochert) Shea. Helen grew up in Kansas City, MO graduating from Southwest High School and St. Theresa of Avila Junior College. On November 4, 1944 she married Jack P. Pfister at Miami, FL. They moved to Coffeyville in 1946 where they made their home until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Parsons, KS two years ago. Helen and Jack celebrated 66 years of marriage last November. Helen was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Altar Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Coffeyville Running Club. She was champion bowler, runner, and most importantly a champion in life, whose best days were spent enjoying her family. Survivors include her husband, Jack of the home in Parsons; one daughter, Connie Lee of Coffeyville; one son Hook Pfister and wife Barbara of Coffeyville; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Judy Booth; five brothers and one sister. A Rosary Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Holy Name Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book on Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family has suggested memorials to the Holy Name Catholic Church and the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
